PM 1to1: choosing genuinely representative people

Sunday, June 23, 2019

It is crucial that the ten people on each programme in one-to conversation with the prime minister, are genuinely representative of the area the programme is based in that month.

The task of finding people will be given to an independent company with the necessary resources and expertise.

The company will be under an obligation to be open and transparent about its work. This will include publishing the detailed criteria they use.

The selection would not be by reference to political views or what questions a person would like to ask. It would be by reference to objective criteria such as sex, age, socio-economic status, ethnicity or whether a person has a disability.

If someone approached does not want to appear on PM 1to1, then the company will seek someone who fits similar objective criteria.
